Ref:

The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead (RBWM) is seeking a talented and forward-thinking Finance Business Partner – Children’s and Corporate to join its finance leadership team.

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure robust budget management, sound financial planning, and evidence-based decision-making that drives real impact for the borough’s residents.

As a key member of the management team, you’ll lead on all aspects of financial analysis, reporting, and advice — ensuring that resources are used effectively and that financial risks and opportunities are well understood. You’ll also play a crucial role in developing and motivating your team and contributing to the ongoing transformation of RBWM’s finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Directors and Heads of Service to provide strategic financial advice and guidance.
  • Lead on budget planning, monitoring, and reporting for both revenue and capital budgets.
  • Provide high-quality financial analysis to support business cases, funding bids, and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate mitigations are in place.
  • Support the delivery of the council’s medium-term financial strategy.
  • Present complex financial information clearly to senior officers and elected members.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the finance team.

About You

  • Be a fully qualified CCAB accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, ICAEW or CIMA) with a strong commitment to professional development.
  • Have substantial experience in budget management, financial planning, and business partnering — ideally within a local authority or large, complex organisation.
