Recovery Manager

Ambient People is working with a local authority to recruit an interim Recovery Manager to lead and stabilise a busy and strategically important Recovery Team. The team is responsible for the recovery and enforcement of Council Tax, Business Rates, Adult Social Care debt, General Debt, and Housing Benefit Overpayments.

This is a key leadership role that requires a strong and resilient manager who can provide clear direction, motivate staff, manage challenges, and drive performance in a demanding environment.

The successful candidate will have proven leadership experience within a local authority revenues and recovery service, with strong technical knowledge across multiple debt streams. You’ll be confident managing teams through change, dealing with complex performance challenges, and ensuring compliance with legislation and good practice.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to deliver results under pressure while maintaining quality and consistency.

This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of two days per week in the office to provide effective leadership and engagement with the team.
