Senior Financial Accountant / Deputy Finance Manager

I'm working with a well-regarded Local Authority in the Home Counties, seeking a technically strong qualified accountant to join its finance team in a key finance leadership role.

This opportunity would suit an ambitious accountant looking to build upon their experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting and audit, while gaining broad exposure across a local government environment.

 

Key responsibilities

• Leading and supporting the year-end closedown process, including preparation of the Statement of Accounts
• Acting as the technical accounting lead across the organisation
• Overseeing capital accounting, fixed assets and associated reporting requirements
• Managing treasury activities, including banking, cashflow monitoring, investments and borrowing
• Coordinating the external audit process and managing audit queries and information requests
• Maintaining robust financial controls, including balance sheet reconciliations and review processes
• Supervising, mentoring and developing a finance team

We're keen to speak with:

• Local Government finance professionals with strong financial accounting experience
• Public Practice trained accountants with experience auditing local authorities and looking for their first move into Local Government
• Candidates with mixed public and private sector, with exposure to statutory accounts, year-end close, treasury management and audit
• Fully Qualified Accountants - CCAB (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, ICAS)
